Speed Away Highlights Callahan Triple At Harrington

Speed Away made a successful return to Harrington Raceway on Wednesday, April 16, capturing the featured $20,139 Winners-Over Trot and highlighting a training triple for Nick Callahan.
The seven-year-old gelding by Father Patrick out of All The Time stormed home with a powerful stretch rally to take command and pull away, stopping the clock in 1:57.2. Renegade Gypsy (Montrell Teague) finished second, while Vlahos (Pat Berry) took third. Speed Away returned $7.40 to win while earning the 18th victory of his career.
A Harrington favourite, Speed Away thrived on the half-mile oval last year, scoring all seven of his seasonal wins at the Delaware track. Speed Away is owned by Breakaway Racing of Greenwood, Delaware and Yorwollohan Racing of Middletown, Delaware.
Callahan had a big night overall, sending out three winners on the card, all driven by Corey Callahan. The team also scored with Star Razor ($4) and Going Platinum ($2.60).
Earlier on the program, trainer Lakiyah Teachey recorded her first career victory with Lather Me Up, owned and bred by George Teague Jr. and Joy Teague. Teachey is a fourth-generation horsewoman and the granddaughter of U.S. Hall of Fame trainer George Teague Jr. Her first win came in just her third start with the three-year-old Lather Up-Joys Choice colt, who was driven to the 2:04.3 triumph by Cody Poliseno.
Live harness racing continues at Harrington on a Monday-through-Wednesday schedule, with a first post time at 4:30 p.m.
