Miller Trainees Shine In Weiss Series At Pocono

Trainer Julie Miller sent out the fastest winner of each sex as three-year-old trotters competed in $28,571 divisions of the Bobby Weiss Series on Monday, April 7 at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.
The colts and geldings returned for the second leg of their Weiss preliminaries, but no horse could notch back-to-back wins. The fastest mile among the males came from Te Quiero Lindy (pictured above), a Walner–Adios Lindy gelding who rebounded from a first-leg loss with a dominant 5-1/4 length victory in 1:56.2 over a ‘good’ track. Tyler Miller drove the four-time seasonal winner for his mother, trainer Julie Miller, and owners Andy Miller Stable Inc., Patrick Hoopes, and Lindy Farms.
Trainer Nifty Norman also sent out winners of each sex. On the male side, Bondsman, a Gimpanzee–Hyperbole gelding, converted a pocket trip into a 1:56.4 score, turning last week’s narrow defeat into a narrow win over Green Mel (Andy Miller). The sophomore was driven by Tyler Buter, the meet’s leading driver. Bondsman is owned by Kovach Stables LLC and Enzed Racing Stable Inc.
The remaining colt division went to Karinchak, a Chapter Seven–Sianna Hanover colt who made a costly break in the first leg but bounced back with a front-end victory in 1:56.3. Matt Kakaley was in the bike for trainer and co-owner Ray Schnittker, who shares ownership with Ted Gewertz, Arden Homestead Stable, and Steven Arnold.
On the filly side, Julie Miller’s Gilda Bi turned in the performance of the day. The Face Time Bourbon–Zarina Bi IT filly stopped the clock in 1:56.1—faster than any male—and romped by 8-1/4 lengths, the widest winning margin of the day. Andy Miller handled the driving assignment for M Biasuzzi Stable Inc.
Nifty Norman’s filly winner, Admiring, gave sire Walner a sweep of one male and one female division. The filly surged late to score in 1:57.3 with David Miller in the sulky for owners Tony Holmes and June Zent.
Rounding out the Weiss winners was Halfadozen, a Six Pack–Tactical Caviar filly who cut the mile and held off Entertain Me (Jim Pantaleano) by a neck, taking a new lifetime mark of 1:59. Daniel Dube drove for trainer Pierre Paradis and co-owns the filly with Jean Claude Dessureault.
Trotting action continues Tuesday with eight $15,000 USD divisions of the first preliminary of the Game of Claims Trotting Series, featuring horses with a $20,000 USD base tag.
