The Good Doctor Wins Saratoga Open

The Good Doctor and his regular reinsman Brett Beckwith scored a decisive victory in the $22,857 Open Pace at Saratoga Casino Hotel on Sunday, April 6.
The 1-9 betting favourite found himself fourth in the six-horse field at the start, maintaining that position until making his move in the stretch. With early fractions of :26.4, :56.1 and 1:25.3 being set up front by Itsallaboutfaith N (Shawn Gray), The Good Doctor took full advantage of his speed and powered home to capture the win in 1:55.1. This marked his fourth Open victory of the 2025 season, adding to a record of seven top-three finishes in eight seasonal starts. Ozone Blue Chip (Billy Dobson) benefited from a pocket trip and finished as the runner-up, while Itsallaboutfaith N rounded out the top three in third.
The Good Doctor has been a dominant force in the Open Pace at Saratoga over the first two months of the racing season. The five-year-old pacer, who debuted in the local Open in February, has quickly made a name for himself as one of the top contenders. Trained by Jaymes McAssey and owned by Morrison Racing Stables of Indiana, Pennsylvania, The Good Doctor (American Ideal-V String), now boasts $58,239 in seasonal earnings and $206,906 in career earnings.
Live racing continues on Monday, April 7, with a first post time of 12 p.m.
