California Sire Stakes Continue This Week

Overthemoonforyou, who is having a sensational Cal Expo meet, eyes a third California Sire Stakes victory in Friday night’s $20,000 USD leg for the four-year-old pacing mares.
Watch and Wager LLC will present 10 races with first post set for 6:45 p.m. PDT. The Sire Stakes goes as the sixth dash on the card.
Overthemoonforyou is a daughter of Karpathian Kid is conditioned by Quentin Schneider, who co-owns as part of Qks Racing, and will again be guided by Aaron Lehman. She comes into this assignment having won 10 of her 12 starts at this meet, including victories in the first two Sire Stakes legs for this division on Feb. 5 and March 7. Sent off the even-money choice in the latter contest, she went right to the front for Lehman and was never threatened while prevailing by a 1-1/4 lengths in 1:55.4. She has drawn post five in the field of seven heading to the gate on Friday.
J J J Stables' homebred Over Ice was second in that most recent stakes joust and looms the main foe from post four for trainer Gordie Graham and driver Nick Roland.
Taking them on, from the rail out, are Apple Juice, Another Tuff Woman, TJB Secreharriet, Senorita Draco and Little Miss Boss.
Alien Art Form will be looking for his second California Sire Stakes score of the meet when he lines up in Saturday night’s $20,000 USD main event for four-year-old male pacers for his trainer, driver and lesee, Ryan Grundy.
When this division last gathered for Sire Stakes on March 8, Alien Art Form came flying to get up for the neck decision in a career-best 1:55.1 at 8-1 that evening.
“He’s nothing fancy, just a very nice horse who likes his work,” said Grundy earlier this year. “He’s also proven that he’s very comfortable on any size track.”
The pacer has proven to be versatile as well. “He can get it done from anywhere,” his mentor added. “Our goal from the start of the meet is to have ready for the $50,000 [USD] race on closing night.”
Alien Art Form has post seven in the seventh race on the 6:42 p.m. Saturday card, with the field rounded out by Say Sos Wind Up, Celebrity Status, Rocklikeahurricane, Bro Hug, Fiery Conclusion, Sylvester and Search And Destroy.
Coming into this week, there is a dead-heat in the driver standings with defending champion Luke Plano and former leading driver Nick Roland having both made 42 trips to the charmed enclosure.
Among the trainers, Quentin Schneider is showing the way with 27 victories, while Roland is in pursuit with 24 tallies to his credit.
