Ladyterra Scores In Western Fair Feature Wednesday

Harness racing at The Raceway at Western Fair District

Ladyterra and her regular reinsman, Tyler Borth, captured the $10,000 featured pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Wednesday, March 12.

The backup class for Preferred fillies and mares drew a short field of six. Sports Duchess (Travis Henry) surged to the lead off the gate, but 1-5 favourite Ladyterra wasted no time making her move from third, reaching the opening quarter in :29.2 alongside the leader. Seizing control, Ladyterra set the half in :59.2 before facing her first challenge from Southwind Stratus (Austin Sorrie) heading into the backstretch. Undeterred, she maintained her lead through three-quarters in 1:29. Despite a determined stretch drive from Southwind Stratus, Ladyterra powered home with a sharp :28.2 final quarter to win in 1:57.1 by 1-1/4 lengths. Southwind Stratus battled gamely for second, while early pacesetter Sports Duchess settled for third.

A five-year-old daughter of Sweet Lou out of Queen To Me, Ladyterra is trained by Zach Carroll for owner Karen Carroll of Shedden, Ont. Prior to this victory, she was coming off a runner-up finish in the ladies' Preferred pace last week (March 5). She now boasts career earnings of $117,913 with nine lifetime victories—this being her first of the 2025 season.

Also of note, trainer Victor Puddy continues his march toward the $20 million earnings milestone. After collecting a fourth-place finish in Race 5 and a win in Race 7, his career total now sits at $19,985,960.
