The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association would like to notify horsemen of a special membership meeting set for Thursday, May 10

, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in Delvin's Banquet Room at the Meadows Racetrack and Casino, located next to the racebook.

The purpose of this meeting is to update members and begin the second round of grassroots legislative effort. This will be the final opportunity to affect legislators before the governor’s budget will be voted on sometime in June. These proposed cuts will affect not only purses, but also health insurance and pension benefits. The MSOA needs all members and associated businesses to attend and participate in this vitally important matter.

The first round of the MSOA grassroots legislative effort has definitely made an impact on the legislative leaders. Twelve legislators from both parties spoke at a press conference in the Capitol Rotunda regarding the negative impact to the PA economy that a raid on the Race Horse Development Fund would create. However, members are urged to continue to help us in our battle.
