Cams Card Shark, a 21-year-old son of the great Cam Fella, was standing the 2012 season in the state of Pennsylvania.
"Cams Card Shark suffered a scrotal hernia. He had surgery last Tuesday (April 17) and had his right testicle and several feet of small intestine removed," Dr. Bridgette Jablonsky explained. "He is recovering well, back to eating his full feed and we hope to bring him home to Hanover Shoe Farms tomorrow (Thursday, April 26) if he has a good night tonight."
Trot Insider has learned that Cams Card Shark will not be collected again this season, but his connections are hoping that the stud recovers completely and is able to breed in 2013.
Cams Card Shark has had a very solid career in the breeding shed. He is the sire of 1,028 race winners, and his progeny have raced to more than $123-million in purse earnings.
Due to the unfortunate circumstances regarding the 2012 breeding season of Cams Card Shark, Winbak Farm has announced that it is now giving $1,000 off 2012 breedings to Shark Gesture, p, 2,1:51.3; 3, 1:49.1; 1:48.1 ($2,818,021) to anyone who was booked to Cams Card Shark and to 2011 returning breeders.
