Fraser Downs

The start of the 2025 Fraser Downs harness racing season has been postponed with the first four scheduled race dates cancelled.

Fraser Downs has cancelled the first two weeks of live harness racing, which includes race dates for Feb. 13, 14, 20 and 21.

The qualifiers scheduled for this Friday, Feb. 7 have been cancelled. Fraser Downs will be scheduling qualifying races on days to be announced before the new opening race date, which is now Feb. 27.

Fraser Downs Race Secretary Darren Lupul stated the reason for the cancellations was "as per HRBC’s request."

Harness Racing British Columbia (HRBC) did not respond to a request for further clarification on the reason for the cancellations as of press time.

The current scheduled race dates for 2025 at Fraser Downs include Thursdays and Fridays from Feb. 27 through May 2 as well as most Thursdays and Fridays from Sept. 4 through Dec. 26, with the exception of Friday, Sept. 5 and Thursday, Dec. 25. Post time for all race days is 7 p.m. (PST).

Horsepeople racing at Fraser Downs should take note that the 45-day qualifying rule will be in effect when racing resumes. To race, a horse must have a clean line within the previous 45 days.

Updates will be provided here if further details are made available.
