Treasured Tee Delivers In Western Fair Preferred
The top-class trotters at The Raceway at Western Fair District lined up for the $12,000 Preferred Handicap Trot on Monday, Feb. 3, where Treasured Tee and Travis Henry engaged in an early battle that set them up for success.
It was an action-packed start as five of the six horses in the field battled for the top spot into the opening turn with 6-5 favourite Gold Edition (Samuel Fillion) breaking stride in between rivals. Made Of Magic (Dean Wall) briefly took control and guided the field to the opening quarter in :29.1. However, the 9-5 second favourite, Treasured Tee, was the widest of all and suffered early interference, yet assumed command and set the remaining fractions of 1:00.3 and 1:32.1, going on to win by a length in 2:04.2 over the 'good' track. A strong closing Shesundertheradar (Garrett Rooney) finished second, while Bucktober (Scott Wray) rallied for third.
Treasured Tee, a 10-year-old gelding by Yankee Glide out of Platinum T, earned his second Preferred win of the 2025 season from four starts. Trained by Francis Guillemette, who co-owns with Stephane Geoffroy, the gelding now has 36 career wins and is just shy of the $500,000 mark, with $495,805 in lifetime earnings. The winning ticket returned $5.70.
The Raceway's early Pick 5 wager will feature a carryover of just under $11,000 with the pool estimated to be well in excess of $50,000 for Tuesday night. The early Pick 5 starts in the evening’s first race of 11, which is scheduled for 5:50 p.m. The Pick 5 is a low 15 per cent takeout wager and free past performances are available on the track's website at theracewaywfd.com.
The Tuesday evening's feature race has an eight-horse field for the $12,000 Preferred Pace in race 10. Classy veteran Ideal Perception – a 34-time career winner – is the 9-5 morning line choice from the outside post seven.
