Things didn’t start out very well in 2012 for veteran trotter Indiana Hall, but he’s managed to right the ship in recent weeks for trainer Ian Downey

The Older Trotting Horse of the Year in 2011 at The Raceway at the Western Fair District racked up an impressive 14-for-36 record last season, but he stumbled out of the blocks as noted in the 0-for-5 record he manufactured to begin the 2012 campaign. A victory in Tuesday’s $15,500 Preferred for trotters over the London oval was his third consecutive victory and his fourth in his last five starts – a sure sign that the real Indiana Hall has stood up.

Trevor Henry hustled the nine-year-old son of Striking Sahbra-Inverlochy to immediate command from his Post 4 perch in Tuesday’s assignment and after slicing out splits of :28.2, :59.2 and 1:29.2 the gelding only needed a final quarter of :30.3 to seal the deal. He was 1-1/2 lengths better than Traverse Seelster in a time of 2:00. Lexis D J came on late to grab the show dough in the seven-horse affair.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite in the featured trotting tilt, Indiana Hall won for the 49th time in his career while lifting his lifetime earnings to $750,852. The hard-hitting OSS graduate is owned by the S S G Stables of North Boston, NY.
