Acefortyfour Rebel, Clints Vett Take Flamboro Co-Features

On Sunday, Jan. 26, the early double $10,000 co-features at Flamboro Downs were highlighted by wins from Acefortyfour Rebel in Race 1 and Clints Vett in Race 2.
In the Sunday night opener, Sam Fillion guided the 20-1 longshot Acefortyfour Rebel to the victory. The pair took a perfect pocket trip behind Le Bec Fin (Todd Ratchford), who set fractions of :28, :57.2, and 1:25.4. As they turned for home, Fillion tipped Acefortyfour Rebel out and accelerated, crossing the wire first in 1:56 to win by 1/2 a length. The winning ticket paid a generous $40.60. Le Bec Fin finished second, while D A Cinnamoncrunch (Jimmy Gagnon) completed the top three.
Acefortyfour Rebel is a four-year-old mare by Dali out of Artacam Hanover. Trained by Craig Gilmour and owned by Dayna White of Troy, Ont., the pacer has now earned $36,820 in lifetime winnings following this victory.
Clints Vett and driver Anthony Haughan took charge early in the second race, powering to the front and not looking back once getting there. The pair set solid fractions of :28, :57, and 1:26.4 before cruising to a wire-to-wire victory in 1:55.4, winning by 2-1/4 lengths. The victory paid $7.30 to win. Counter Offer (Michael Whelan) finished second, while Redland Wrangler (Paul MacKenzie) was third.
A five-year-old gelded son of All Bets Off out of Sexnvetts, Clints Vett is trained by Tim Myers for owner David Omicioli of West Hill, Ont. Clints Vett now boasts $22,804 in career earnings.
