Royalty Beer Cruises In Western Fair Preferred
On Monday, Jan. 20, Royalty Beer continued his dominant 2025 campaign, securing a three-for-three record with a commanding wire-to-wire victory in the $12,000 Preferred Trot at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
With driver Sam Fillion in the bike, the 1-5 favourite wasted no time charging out of the four-hole and hitting the first quarter in :29.3. From there, it was smooth sailing as the pair opened up a three-length lead after hitting the half in 1:01. Maintaining their strong pace down the backstretch, they reached the three-quarter mark in 1:30.1. As they rounded the final turn, no competitor could mount a serious challenge, and Royalty Beer crossed the wire in 2:01, clinching the win by 2-3/4 lengths over the 'good' track. Marvin Hagler (Austin Sorrie) finished second, while Lass Shot (Garrett Rooney) took third.
Royalty Beer is a six-year-old Royalty For Life-Beer Maggs gelding, trained by Jean-Francois Maguire for Ecuries Maguire Inc. The homebred trotter paid $2.60 to win.
Monday’s victory added to the growing resume of Royalty Beer, bringing his career total to 21 wins and boosting his lifetime earnings to $338,227.
