Disturbed Hanover Upsets In Dover Distaff Open
Disturbed Hanover exploded in the stretch and upset the field in the $36,232 Mares Open Handicap Pace at Bally's Dover on Wednesday night, Jan. 15.
There was an early skirmish at the start of the race as Elektra A (Tim Tetrick), off as the 3-5 betting favourite, parked out Majorca N (Corey Callahan) through an opening quarter in :27. Majorca N pressed on to the lead and comfortably led the field through the half in :56. Racing up the backstretch, Factory Girl (Victor Kirby) raced into the chilly elements first over. Linemup Knockmback (Anthony Morgan) was carried into the second-over flow while Disturbed Hanover (Barton Dalious) rolled third over.
Factory Girl wore down pacesetter Majorca N and took control of the field past the three-quarters in 1:24. Disturbed Hanover was launched four-wide into the lane and marched home to win by a half length in 1:53.1. Linemup Knockmback finished second and Factory Girl was third.
Disturbed Hanover, a daughter of Big Jim-Driven To Sin, is owned by The Whiz Kids Stable of Dover, Delaware. Bart Dalious trains the winner. Off at 19-1 odds, she paid $39.80 to win.
The Thursday, Jan. 16 card at Bally's Dover features the $25,000 USD Blue Hen Open Pace as Wehadababyetzaboy takes on Itsrockandroll A. There is a Pick 4 carryover of $2,566 for Thursday's second race.
Racing at Dover resumes on a Monday through Thursday schedule with a post time of 4:30 p.m.
