Pacino Hanover Headlines Team Cullen Triple At Mohawk
Driver Travis Cullen and trainer Jodie Cullen were a hot combination on Saturday (Jan. 11) at Woodbine Mohawk Park, teaming up for a trio of victories including the $36,000 Preferred Pace with Pacino Hanover on the 11-race card.
Leaving from post two in the field of six, Pacino Hanover and Travis Cullen floated out into the fourth spot early as Jack Panic (Jonathan Drury) sped from the outside to the front through a quarter of :27.2. Jack Panic continued to control things to the halfway point in :55.2 as pocket-sitter Whichwaytothebeach (Travis Henry) bump-drafted the Drury helmet. Pacino Hanover found himself pinned in from fifth on the final turn as Whatchulookin At (Trevor Henry) started the outer flow and moved into third while Jack Panic led to three-quarters 1:23.1.
Jack Panic turned for home 1-1/2 lengths clear of the field while Pacino Hanover angled off the cones to the far outside midway through the lane to begin his rally. The field swarmed Jack Panic late in the lane, with four pacers in contention in deep stretch. Surging widest of all in :27.1, Pacino Hanover timed his rally just right to reach the wire a head in front of No Control (James MacDonald) in 1:51. Jack Panic held for third, a neck back of the winner on the line.
Travis Cullen co-owns Pacino Hanover along with Ronald Cullen and Paul Sanders. The five-year-old son of American Ideal-Perfect Touch is now a 13-time winner for his career, racking up lifetime earnings of $213,748. Pacino Hanover paid $12.90 to win at the betting windows.
In addition to the Preferred, Team Cullen picked up wins on the night with Shoot The Whiskey ($3.50, 1:54.2) and Code Cracker ($24.50, 1:52.1) in the Saturday night finale.
