Elektra A Electric In Dover Distaff Open
Elektra A wired the field in the $36,232 Mares Open Handicap Pace at Bally's Dover on a cold Wednesday, Jan. 8 evening.
The Jeff Cullipher student, who finished second as the bettors' choice in back-to-back starts, finally sealed the deal with victory on Wednesday. Tim Tetrick blasted off the wings of the starting gate with Elektra A and took command of the field early. The remainder of the field continued single file as she carved out all of the fractions in :28, :57.1 and 1:25.2. Disturbed Hanover (Barton Dalious) raced first over up the backstretch, but her bid fell short as she tired. Lulu Rocks (Jason Thompson) remained in the pocket and waited for her cue, but was unable to close in on the leader.Elektra A opened up in the stretch and won by two lengths in 1:52.4. Lulu Rocks was second with Disturbed Hanover third.
Elektra A paid $2.40 to win. The eight-year-old daughter of Four Starzzz Shark-Protikori is owned by Pollack Racing of Venetia, Pennsylvania.
The Thursday, Jan. 9 card at Bally's Dover will feature the $27,500 USD Blue Hen Handicap Pace as Wehadababyetzaboy takes on Itsrockandroll A. Racing at Dover continues on a Monday through Thursday schedule with a 4:30 p.m. first post time.
