'Round Table' Takes Clash Of The Pacific
With trainer Scott Knight in the bike, Round Table Review put forth a valiant effort to win the $100,000 Clash Of The Pacific Final on Friday night at Fraser Downs.
The six-year-old gelding got away second from Post 3 as Classy Character (Tim Brown) sped to the front from Post 6. The early leader posted opening panels of :27.4 and :55.1 while enduring first-over pressure from Round Table Review, who finally cleared after the 1:23.3 third-quarter pole.
Meanwhile, the post time favourite Grand Bend Turbo (Dave Hudon) attempted a three-wide move, but made a break due to broken equipment. Round Table Review, the 5-1 entry, dug in for the three-length win in 1:53.1.
Stonebridge Camelot (Billy David, Jr.) finished second and Reserve Forces (Dave McKellar) came on for third. Round Table Review's stable mate, Trust The Artist (Kelly Hoerdt) finished fourth.
The son of Cambest, who won the first leg, notched his 20th lifetime victory and lifted his bankroll to $238,154 for co-owners Kelly Hoerdt and Blair Corbeil of Beaumont, Alta.
