No Plan Intended Looms In Red Shores Preferred
Former Gold Cup and Saucer runner-up No Plan Intended makes his third start back off the bench and is poised for victory in the $4,600 Preferred Pace on a rescheduled program this Sunday, Dec. 22 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 13-dash Sunday program has a 12:30 p.m. (AST) opening post time.
Race 12 is the top event of the day with No Plan Intended drawing post four for driver David Dowling and owner Danny Birt of Earnscliffe. Conditioner Jennifer Doyle is in the midst of a record-breaking year with 111 victories between Red Shores Charlottetown and Summerside and has taken dead aim at Marc Campbell’s record of 131 training wins set in 2017 with three cards to go in 2024.
Malignity (To be driven by Paul Langille) draws rail control in the Preferred Pace with Blood Money (Gilles Barrieau) leaving from post two. Roll Em (Marc Campbell) holds down post three with Bee Two Bee (Jason Hughes) saddled with post five.
The Post Time Picks go with No Plan Intended to win.
“No Plan Intended raced big in his first start off the bench and followed it up with a gutsy second-place performance that saw him battle a two-pronged attack by Roll Em in the third quarter and Bee Two Bee in the final quarter. There's inside speed in this race so I'm betting he grinds out a first-up victory.”
The program also features the third and final leg of the Joe and Steven MacRae Memorial Pacing Series.
The first $7,500 Horses and Geldings division in the first dash has Poplar Artie (Marc Campbell) looking for a clean sweep of the series with rail control for trainer Lenny Myers and owners Matt and Liam Myers.
Starship Glyde (Adam Merner) will look for redemption in his $7,500 MacRae Memorial division in Race 5 from post five. Merner trains the son of Control The Moment for Windemere Farms of Springvale.
Watch Her Go (Marc Campbell) is the morning line favourite in her $7,500 MacRae Memorial split for Fillies and Mares in Race 3 for owner-trainer Todd Walsh.
The final $7,500 Fillies and Mares division of the MacRae Memorial is in Race 7 with Southern Heart (Corey MacPherson) seeking her third straight win in the series with post 3 for trainer Ron Matheson and owners Elmer Campbell and Jackie Cooper.
The Prince Edward Island Harness Racing Industry Association has also announced an increase of 10 percent to all overnight condition races effective Dec. 21, 2024, for the remaining seven cards of the racing season.
