The Standardbred Owners Association of New York (SOANY) held its Board of Trustees and Directors meetings on Saturday, Dec. 7.

At the Trustees meeting, Neuberger Berman, the SOANY's financial investment company, provided an update on the association's investments. In addition, the trustees discussed the SOANY's strong financial position and provided an update to the Welfare Plans (medical and dental).

At the Board of Directors meeting, the directors discussed the election results (below), the strong SOANY finances, purse account, 240 race dates in 2025, contract negotiations with MGM will begin early next year, the new track safety system should be installed by MGM for opening night (Monday, Jan. 20), HISA developments, current issues regarding racing in New York State, increased social media presence and Empire City bets promotions.

The following, all incumbent Directors, were re-elected for 2025 without opposition:

• Irv Atherton (Owner category)
• Peter Kleinhans (Owner category)
• Charles Longo (Owner category)
• Peter Venaglia (Owner category)
• Peter Younger (Owner category)

A motion by Peter Younger to nominate Scott DiDomenico for the vacant Driver/Trainer category was seconded by Tom Ceraso. After discussion, the motion passed.

The following, all incumbent Officers, were re-elected for 2025 without opposition:

• Joseph A. Faraldo, President
• Peter Venaglia, 1st Vice President
• Irv Atherton, 2nd Vice President and Treasurer
• Chris Wittstruck, 3rd Vice President
• Peter Younger, Secretary

The following, all incumbent Executive Committee, were re-elected for 2025 without opposition:

• Joseph Faraldo
• Peter Venaglia
• Irv Atherton
• Jordan Stratton

The following, all incumbent Trustees of the Retirement and Welfare Funds, were re-elected for 2025 without opposition:

• Peter Venaglia (Chairman)
• Joseph A. Faraldo
• Irv Atherton
• Chris Wittstruck
• Peter Younger
• Jordan Stratton (1st Alternate)
• Ray Schnittker (2nd Alternate)
• Tom Ceraso (3rd Alternate)
