Blood Money Takes Red Shores Preferred

Blood Money provided a mild upset in the Preferred Pace on Sunday, Dec. 8 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Driver Gilles Barrieau placed the Ron Matheson-trained pacer on the front end in the $4,500 featured pace over a snowy track. The son of Sweet Lou-Blood Diamond responded with splits of :30, :58.3, 1:27.4 and 1:57.1 to hold off Roll Em (Marc Campbell) and Rollwithhottytoddy (Myles Heffernan Sr.). Dr. Mitchell Downey of New Brunswick owns Blood Money, who paid $15.60 to win.

Barrieau also scored driving victories with Silver Spirit (1:58.4) for trainer Tammy Collings in race 10 and with Sensational Gal (1:59.1) for trainer Nicholas Oakes in race four.

The Adam Merner stable doubled up for the ownership team of Dale, Ronnie and Melissa Rennie, with Merner driving Impeccable Shadow (1:59) in race nine and Nolans Magic Shui (1:58.2) to win the race 12 finale.

Live harness racing continues Saturday, Dec.14 at 12:30 p.m., at Red Shores Charlottetown.
