Batterup Hanover Hits Home Run In Flamboro Feature
Batterup Hanover aimed for the fences in the Wednesday (Nov. 20) evening feature at Flamboro Downs, a $10,500 conditioned pace, and the gelding hit a home run with a victory and a push past six-figures in career earnings.
Woodmere Stealdeal (Ed Hensley) left swiftly from post seven and designated himself as the pacesetter for the mile with fractions in :27.1, :55, and 1:23.3. Batterup Hanover (Jason Ryan) trailed from fifth, 8-3/4 lengths off the leader at the opening panel. He continued in fifth, eight lengths off the leader, at the half before moving to the outside first over. Ryan directed the Ben Hollingsworth student forward, achieving fourth from the outside at the three quarters with now five lengths separating himself and Woodmere Stealdeal. With a final panel in :29.3, Batterup Hanover slid into home with a 1-1/4 length victory in 1:54.1. Colin Your Bluff (Colin Kelly) followed the pocket trip through the mile to finish second and Woodmere Stealdeal completed the top three.
