Cam Fella Award Submissions Due Friday
A reminder that Standardbred Canada is accepting submissions for the 2024 Cam Fella Award, with nominations due on Friday, Nov. 22.
The Cam Fella Award was introduced at the 1997 O’Brien Awards. The award was designed to honour the kind of extreme meritorious service that Cam Fella himself provided to the nation’s harness racing industry and, fittingly, he was the first recipient.
The award is given out when warranted – not necessarily annually – to recognize extreme recent meritorious service, effort and dedication to Canadian harness racing by an individual or group who, through their efforts, displays some of the same qualities that made Cam Fella one of racing’s greatest names.
The most recent winner of the Cam Fella Award was the Honourable Dennis King, Premier of Prince Edward Island, in 2023. A P.E.I. native with a deep passion for the sport from a young age, King's visionary leadership and advocacy for harness racing in P.E.I. marked an increase in participation, enhanced infrastructure and a renewed sense of community engagement. His proactive approach to addressing the sport's challenges and championing its opportunities has fostered a thriving ecosystem that fosters talent and ensures the sport's sustainability for future generations in P.E.I.
