Itll Be Fine Gets The Nod In Fraser Photo Finish
Itll Be Fine was relegated to the pocket by a wide-driving Sunshine Boy after the opening panel but it was fine as the popular Rick Lancaster trainee out-finished that foe to win Friday's featured $10,000 Preferred Pace in a head decision during the mid-November card at Fraser Downs.
Leaving from post five, driver Dave Hudon sent 4-5 favourite Itll Be Fine to the front into a :27 first quarter before 3-2 second choice Sunshine Boy (Scott Knight), who was double parked at the start, pressed on and took over for middle splits clocked in :56.2 and 1:24.3 while leaving Outlaw C My Shadow (Tyson Jacoby) hung out for the mile. But once the top pacers turned for home, Itll Be Fine pounced from the pocket and caught Sunshine Boy at the finish line in 1:52.4. The winner's stablemate, Rum N Raisins (John Abbott), followed 3-3/4 lengths behind in third.
Itll Be Fine earned his eighth win of the year, tying his career-high win count from last season. The five-year-old Hes Watching-Modern Hanover gelding has stashed away nearly $70,000 in 33 starts this year for trainer Rick Lancaster and co-owner Leslie Godlien.
Itll Be Fine paid $6.30 to win.
