Longtime harness racing industry participant Robert Thomas "Bert" Walker of Holland Centre, Ont. passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the age of 90.

Cherished husband of 68 years to Jean Marie Walker (nee Boyce), and dear father of Jayne Walker (Tom Smith) of Holland Centre, Lorna Walker (Greg Court) of Irish Block Road, and Rosemary McCaskie (Patrick) also of Holland Centre. Proud grandfather of Matthew, Erin, Felicity, Heather, and Jim, and great-grandpa of Logan, Gwen, Connor, and Rylin. Robert is also survived by his sister Betty Gilpin. Predeceased by his siblings Jim Walker (Mary), Eleanor Main (William), and Gladys Walker, and his parents Albert and Jenny Maude Walker. Also predeceased by his in-laws Bob Gilpin, Helen Whitney-Taylor (John Whitney, George Taylor), Edison Boyce (June), Bessie Lawrence (Charles Timmins, Bert Lawrence). Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends in the equine community.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth, Ont. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 4 – 6 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior. Reverend Jeffery Kischak officiating. Interment Markdale Cemetery.  If desired, donations to Chapman House would be appreciated by the family.
