Crowe And Rennison Wrap Up Truro Titles
Truro Raceway's leading driver Darren Crowe and top trainer George Rennison put the finishes touches on their successful seasons competing at the Nova Scotia half-mile track on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 3 as the 2024 harness racing meet concluded.
Crowe picked up a victory during the final card of the meet in the third race, driving the Leslie Parker-trained four-year-old pacing mare Itsuptoyou ($12.50) in a 2:01.2 mile. That winning drive was his 26th of the Truro season, giving him an 11-win lead in the driver standings over Paul Langille and Marc Campbell, who tied for the runner-up honours.
Rennison sent out a pair of winners on Sunday's seven-race card to bring his meet-leading total to 27. Two-year-old gelding DJ Cowboy ($10) beat older pacers in the fifth race in 2:02.1 and then eight-year-old gelding Privilege ($3.50) put the exclamation point on his Truro campaign, winning the day's top $2,000 pace in the finale by half a dozen lengths in 1:56.3, with Todd Trites driving both successful starters. Rennison earned his 10th straight training title at the track while Crowe finished second in the trainer standings with his stable earning 14 wins and Gardener McCallum was just one win behind in third.
