Itll Be Fine Prevails In Fraser Preferred
A close runner-up the last two Friday nights, Itll Be Fine got the job done in this week's $10,000 Preferred Pace at Fraser Downs with a successful pocket-popping move in the stretch.
Driven by Dave Hudon, Itll Be Fine was the slight favourite over last week's winner Sunshine Boy (Scott Knight) and easily powered past that rival in the stretch this time out following panels of :26.3, :56 and 1:24. He won by two lengths in 1:52 flat with Sunshine Boy settling for second and Waitin Ona River (Kevin Anderson) following in third. At odds of 6-5, Itll Be Fine paid $4.40 to win.
Now a three-time Preferred winner at the Fraser fall meet, Itll Be Fine improved his seasonal summary to 7-10-3 from 31 starts while his earnings climbed to $64,181. The five-year-old Hes Watching-Modern Hanover gelding is owned by trainer Rick Lancaster in partnership with Leslie Godlien of Langley, B.C. He now boasts 22 career wins and a bankroll totalling $217,988.
Lancaster doubled up as A Dudes Promise ($20.10) won the opener in rein to Tyson Jacoby over a pair of Hudon trainees. Itll Be Fine was Hudon's third winner on the 10-race card.
