So Much More Completes Borth's Five-Win Friday

So Much More winning at Woodbine Mohawk Park

Parked the entire mile, millionaire pacing mare So Much More summoned up all of her back class to deliver Tyler Borth his fifth catch-driving win in the Friday night finale at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Owned by trainer Don Beatson, Kenn Beatson and Cole England, So Much More earned her 74th career victory in the evening's top class, a $24,000 fillies and mares conditioned pace.

Leaving from post nine, Borth and 8-5 favourite So Much More were left parked first-up when post seven starter Kellina Diamond (Jonathan Drury) eventually cleared insider Glenboro (Travis Cullen) after a contested :27.1 opening quarter. The half went in :55.1 with three-time O'Brien Award winner So Much More starting to gain momentum to three-quarters in 1:23.2 and grinding away through the stretch to collar Kellina Diamond at the wire in 1:51.4.

Borth has driven the eight-year-old Big Jim mare to consecutive victories in her October return from a layoff with her regular reinsman James MacDonald competing in Breeders Crown action at The Meadowlands.

Another highlight of the night for Borth was winning with the three-year-old trotting colt Wheelin My Bentley ($8.50) that he co-owns with his father Bill. A back-to-back winner at Mohawk trained by Katie MacNeil, the son of Wheeling N Dealin lowered his lifetime mark to 1:56.3 in the $18,000 fifth race after retaking the lead in deep stretch and opening up 3-1/2 lengths.

Borth also scored wins during the 11-race card with sophomore pacing filly Sorcha Seelster ($3.90) atop a 1-2 finish for the John Pentland stable in a new mark of 1:51.1, five-year-old trotter Cleveland Massimo ($6.70) in a career-best 1:56 mile for trainer Jean-Francois Maguire and three-year-old trotting colt Bronzer ($5.60) in 1:55.1 for conditioner Amanda Fine.

The Ingersoll, Ont. reinsman is a top 10 driver in Canada with 238 wins and more than $3.6 million in earnings this year. Borth has won 1,972 races lifetime, including 414 to rank second for wins in the nation during his career-best campaign last season.
