The first night of the 2024 Breeders Crown championship finals is in the books, with The Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, N.J. hosting the four lucrative and prestigious finals for two-year-olds on Friday, Oct. 25.

The 2024 Breeders Crown will mark the 41st edition of harness racing’s $7 million USD championship event. The two-year-old Breeders Crown were contested on Friday, while the three-year-olds and open competitors will face off on Saturday, Oct. 26. Post time is 6:20 p.m. both nights.

The fourth and penultimate leg of the Kindergarten Series peppered the Breeders Crown undercard on Friday night, with seven $27,778 divisions contested for two-year-old trotters and pacers.

Filly trot winners were Sonmar Pond (Scott Zeron; Domenico Cecere; 1:54; $6.20) and Voguish (Todd McCarthy; Andrew Harris; 1:53.1; $8.60), while Monserrate (David Miller; Andrew Harris; 1:54.4; $7.60) and Cheers Hanover (David Miller; Ron Burke; 1:54.3; $14.00) connected in the colt trots.

Papis Rocket (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.; Ron Burke; 1:51; $5.20) and Manolete (Scott Zeron; Bruce Saunders; 1:52.1; $2.60) prevailed in the pacing colt divisions while pacing filly Chakra (Anibal Boras; Tony Alagna; 1:50.3; $52.80) delivered both the fastest time and biggest payout in the single pacing filly split.

The fifth Kindergarten leg for all divisions is slated for next Saturday, Nov. 2.
