Cecere Stable Scores Plainridge Hat Trick

Sforza winning at Plainridge Park

Hats were flying for driver Bruce Ranger, trainer Domenico Cecere and their Antonacci family connections after they combined to win three races on the Friday, Oct. 18 card at Plainridge Park.

The Cecere stable kicked off its big day with three-year-old trotting filly Cheval Rapide ($3), who captured an $18,493 conditioned trot for five-year-olds and under after taking the lead past the quarter and stretching out every quarter after that, winning easily by three lengths in 1:54.3. Cheval Rapide is owned by Greathorse.

Team Cecere won a $19,863 mid-level conditioned trot with three-year-old filly Internationalmodel ($11), who similarly took the lead past the quarter, opened up a four-length advantage by the top of the stretch and then held off a late-closing Busting With Pride to win in 1:55.1. Internationalmodel is owned by Lindy Farms Of Connecticut and R-And-I Farms.

Cecere's final win was in the $23,973 featured trot with the three-year-old Walner gelding Sforza ($3.40), who dominated on the lead through quarters on :27.1, :57 and 1:25.2 before turning for home and maintaining his race-long, three-length lead to the wire in a lifetime best 1:54.1. Sforza is also owned by Greathorse.

Racing resumes at Plainridge Park on Monday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. and there will be a $5,107 carryover in the Wicked Hi-5 pentafecta in race six.
