New Legacy, Doyle Headline Charlottetown Thursday
Jennifer Doyle's students headlined the Thursday, Oct. 17 evening card at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park with three wins on the night, including a triumph in the featured Open Trot by New Legacy.
David Dowling sent the Doyle student out of post six in the feature, taking back to fifth with New Legacy as the car drew away. They maintained position in fifth through the :28.3 quarter and moved out first over en route to the :58.3 half. New Legacy buzzed to the top and took over from there with the three-quarters clocked in 1:28.3. After the third quarter pole, the gelding opened up, moving home with a 3-1/2 length score in 1:57.3. Irish Ray (Marc Campbell) was second with Glider Man (Damian Maclellan) third.
New Legacy won his fourth straight race in the feature, producing a record of 9-4-1 from 18 starts this year. In his career, he boasts $231,416 from a record of 33-22-7 in 94 starts. The six-year-old Father Patrick-Monarchs Sequel gelding is owned by Danny Birt.
Doyle also won with Rock N Roll Cays ($2.50) in 1:56.1 and Woodmere Heather M ($2.70) in 1:56.2, both piloted by David Dowling.
