Peloton Seelster Wins First Race In Autumn Series
Peloton Seelster pedaled to his first career victory in the $8,500 first leg of the Autumn Series for pacing colts and geldings at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Paul Mackenzie steered the Ian Moore student out of post three and to the top off the car. Mcseashore (Anthony Haughan) idled at his side, but Peloton Seelster stayed firm and kept the lead. He controlled the timer with fractions in :28.4 and :59.4 before feeling the presence of Harborlite Jimmie (Austin Sorrie) on the outside. Again, Peloton Seelster pushed on and maintained his lead through the three-quarters in 1:29. The field stacked three-wide in the final turn, but no one was able to catch Peloton Seelster before the wire. The final time clocked 1:59.2 with a 1-1/4-length margin of victory. Convoy Twenty Two (Daryl Thiessen) buzzed up the center of the track to take second and Mcseashore completed the top three.
Peloton Seelster is a freshman son of Shadow Play and the Artistic Fella mare Porsche Seelster, owned by Peloton Seelster Stable. He won his first race from three starts.
He paid $14.10 to win at 6-1 odds.
The series is the second event of four in the Autumn Series with two- and three-year-old Ontario-sired colts and geldings headlining the division. The event is open to non-winners of $10,000 lifetime as of midnight Sept. 30 with no allowances on earnings. The pacing colts and geldings meet again on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the London, Ont. oval for the second $8,500 leg with the $20,000 final contested on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Racing continues at Western Fair on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays with a post time of 5:50 p.m.
