D A Bodacious topped the opening day of the third annual London Classic Yearling Sale on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Western Fair District Agriplex in London, Ont. 

Selling as Hip 98, D A Bodacious was purchased for $140,000 by Bill Donovan of Delray Beach, Florida. Consigned by Dean and Ashley Wilson, the Cattlewash colt is out of the Dragon Again mare Vivid Shine, a full sister to former world champion stallion Custard The Dragon. D A Bodacious is half sibling to Open pacer Risenshine Seaside ($381,659 - 1:48.3f) and D A Wicked Shine ($46,337 - 1:52s).

D A Masstermind, Hip 54, was the top trotting yearling selling for $120,000 to Steve Colvin of Hanover, Ont. Also consigned by Dean and Ashley Wilson, the Muscle Mass-Pretty Crafty colt is a full brother to Colvin's Ontario Sires Stakes Gold competitor Masstercraft ($206,334 - 1:53.4s), who sold for $110,000 as the inaugural sale's day two topper in 2022. He is also a full sibling to 2021 Dream Of Glory Trot champion and Grand Circuit stakes-placed Publicity Seeker ($336,110 - 1:54.4f) as well as Stable Genius ($243,103 - 1:51.1).

Stonebridge Wings, Hip 90, also garnered a six-figure bid with Marcel Barrigall of Cambridge, Ont. purchasing the Archangel-Stonebridge Glider colt for $115,000 from the Stonebridge Farm consignment. Stonebridge Wings is out of a full sister to the millionaire exported stallion Manofmanymissions. The colt a half sibling to two $100,000+ earners in Stonebridge Bomber ($128,075 - 1:54.2s) and Chaperidge ($103,950 - 1:58h).

Justice Seelster, Hip 71, was another top seller with a final bid of $95,000, going to Wilma Mackenzie of Ennismore, Ont. Consigned by Seelster Farms, the Cattlewash filly is the second foal out of the Rock N Roll Heaven mare Jan, a winner of more than $200,000. Justice Seelster's dam is a full sister to New York Sire Stakes winner Outkast Blue Chip and Breeders Crown elimination winner Savannah Sky, and a half-sibling to millionaire Georgia Pacific.

A pair of trotters from the Dean and Ashley Wilson consignment sold for $90,000 each to round out the yearlings with the five highest sales prices of the opening session. The Green Manalishi S-Motormouth Hanover filly D A Gabriella, Hip 20, was acquired by Aristi Varsakis of Hamilton, Ont. and the Muscle Mass-P L Indyanaca colt P L Talladega, Hip 44, went to Bax Stables of Campbellville, Ont. D A Gabriella is the first foal out of her unraced Cantab Hall dam, who is a full sister to Grand Circuit stakes winner Walter White. P L Talladega is out of a six-figure earner and he is a half sibling to two $250,000+ winners in Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots champion P L Opportunity ($286,199 - 1:52.2s) and this past weekend's Gold Super Final runner-up P L Rainbow Dash ($284,732 - 1:54.1s).

A total of 123 yearlings sold for $3,486,000 with the average price at $28,341, up approximately 2.4 per cent from last year's day one average.

The sale continues on Wednesday at 12 noon featuring the remaining Hips 131-262.
