Looks Like Moni Prevails In Mohawk Feature

Looks Like Moni

Looks Like Moni looked like a winner on Monday evening, Oct. 14 at Woodbine Mohawk Park and took home the lion's share of the $28,000 purse in the featured conditioned trot.

James MacDonald urged the Harry Poulton trainee from the center of the wings to the top and they clicked out the opening quarter in :27. Yo Mister (Travis Cullen) moved up and took command briefly, but as soon as he settled along the pylons, Looks Like Moni was out and back on the move to the top. The half clocked :56.1 and Looks Like Moni was clear for the front along the pylons again. He handled the timer with the three-quarters reading 1:25.1 before opening up by 5-1/4 lengths. Safe Conduct (Chris Christoforou) sprinted home, closing the gap quickly, but he ran out of racetrack, leaving Looks Like Moni the winner by a neck in 1:54. Pemberton (Bob McClure) rounded out the top three.

Thestable Looks Like Moni owns the five-year-old gelded son of Muscle Hill out of the Cantab Hall mare Thats All Moni. Looks Like Moni  recorded his second win in 14 starts this year and moved his career tally to 11-9-10 with $474,118 earned from 54 starts. Looks Like Moni paid $6.80 to win.

In a $14,000 conditioned pace for CKG Billings amateur drivers, John Calabrese and Bettor Than Pride took the lead and never looked back in progress to a 1:53.1 win over 9-5 favourite Typhoon Stride N (Robert Ciavardini) with third going to Rilkoff (Julie Walker), the longest shot on the board. Des Tackoor trains and co-owns the five-year-old gelding by Betterthancheddar with Ryan Willis. Bettor Than Pride paid $9.80 to win.
