Roll Em Caps Off Atlantic Breeders Crown Championship Sunday

Major stakes winners from the 2024 Atlantic Breeders Crown card

Roll Em made his 36th lifetime win one to remember as he went all the way in the $50,000 Premier’s Cup on Atlantic Breeders Crown Championship Sunday at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Roll Em (Driven by Marc Campbell) left from post one in the final of the Atlantic Invitational Series and was on top at every call in 1:52.3 from the Brent Campbell stable with the trainer co-owning alongside Brady Doyle, Ryan MacLeod and Savage Stable. The $50,000 Premier’s Cup saw Bee Two Bee (Jason Hughes) get up for second ahead of Twin B Tuffenuff (Gilles Barrieau).

Tobins Chester (Jason Hughes) won his fifth-straight as the sophomore titans met again in the $30,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown Final for three-year-old pacing colts with a front-end victory of 1:54 for trainer Ashley Gamester and owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge. The son of Shanghai Phil finished ahead of rivals Merigo Magic (Adam Merner) and Jackies Boy (Myles Heffernan Sr.).

Galway Girl controlled her destiny with a front-end victory in the $30,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown Final for three-year-old pacing fillies for trainer Brent Campbell and owners Brady Doyle, Kent MacDonald, Bernard MacDonald and Jacinta Campbell. Defending champion Zendayas Firstlady (Heffernan) was a hard closing second in the 1:56.4 mile with Sensational Gal (Barrieau) completing the triactor.

Malevolent (Paul Langille) charged home to win the $30,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown two-year-old pacing colt final in 1:56.1. Rosetown Eclipse (Corey MacPherson) was second with Sergeant Crowley (Barrieau) third. Debbie Francis and Rosanne Langille share ownership of the son of Malicious who extended his win streak to four.

Muchtooyoungforyou (Marc Campbell) was the best in the $30,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown for two-year-old pacing fillies for trainer Earl Watts and owners Windemere Farms, Matt Burke and River Valley Management. Time of the mile was 1:58.2 as stablemate Saulsbrook Inferno (David Dowling) was second best ahead of Woodmere Flojo (Merner).

Race 2 was the Atlantic Breeders Crown two-year-old trot final captured by West River Jet (Ken MacDonald) in 1:59 for trainer Clare MacDonald and owner Haley MacDonald. Supreme Rockette (Barrieau) nabbed second with Oceanview Nikki (Mike McGuigan) third. The mile time lowered his own track standard for two-year-old trotting geldings.

Rocket Blast (MacPherson) scored a nine-length romp in 2:00.1 in the $17,500 Atlantic Breeders Crown three-year-old trot final over Dusty Lane Darby (Merner) and Gettin Lit (McGuigan). Carl Bagnall owns and trains the winning son of EL Rocket.

Chelski (Damian MacLellan) won the Race 14 $15,500 Steven and Joe MacRae Memorial Open Pacing Mares Final in 1:53.2 for trainer Jennifer Doyle and owners Jeffrey and Robert Skinner of Nova Scotia.

The Doyle stable also captured the Race 9 $12,600 Island Oceans Trot Classic Final, presented by Burkie By The Bay Stable, with New Legacy (Hughes) in 1:59 for owner Danny Birt.

The three-year-old pacing colt consolation was part of the five-races cancelled from the Saturday card with that event raced as a non-betting dash before the Sunday card. Jask Boswall (Marc Campbell) won the lion’s share of the $7,500 pot in 1:56.1 for co-owner and trainer Keith MacDonell and co-owners Mark MacDonell and Blenise Young.

Marc Campbell had five driving wins on the day while MacPherson scored a driving hat-trick.

Live racing continues Tuesday evening at 6 P.M., at Red Shores Summerside.
