Little Miss Peyton Wins DSBF Final At Harrington

Little Miss Peyton

Donna Messick’s Little Miss Peyton ($2.10, Corey Callahan) was a 1:56.4 winner in the $148,649 Delaware Standardbred Breeders’ Fund (DSBF) final for two-year-old pacing fillies at Harrington Raceway on Tuesday (Oct. 8).

The gray daughter of Papa Ray was a wire-to-wire winner over Valentina Station and Tilted Crown for trainer Les Givens. Little Miss Peyton improved to four-for-six in her young career with a front-end victory where she sprinted way from her rivals with a :28.1 last quarter.

In the overnight feature, driver Callahan also prevailed as Mike Casalino and Dylan Davis’ Majorca N ($6.00) won for the seventh time this season — all at Harrington — over Incaseyoudidntknow and Odds On Hail Mary in the $67,568 Kathleen Cain in 1:52. The nine-year-old Art Major mare collared pacesetter Odds On Hail Mary on the final turn and held off a late kick from Incaseyoudidntknow for her 38th career triumph. The race honoured the service of Harrington’s longtime receptionist for over 40 years, who at age 96 was in the winner’s circle.

Callahan had three wins on the card.

Live racing at Harrington will continue on a Monday-through-Wednesday schedule; daily post time is 4:30 p.m.
