Fashion Frenzie Prevails In Mohawk Preferred Trot
Fashion Frenzie crested the $100,000 mark for the season once again on Monday, Oct. 7 after winning the $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Louis-Philippe Roy and Fashion Frenzie wasted little time in protecting their pylon position, sailing to command the timer with splits in :27.1, :56.4 and 1:25.1. Half of the field surged late in the stretch, swarming the favourite and pacesetter, but Fashion Frenzie prevailed by a neck in the blanket finish. New Rules nabbed second while Hasty Bid (James MacDonald) grabbed the show spot. The final time of the mile clocked in 1:53.
Trained by Jeffrey Gillis, the six-year-old gelded son of Archangel and the Striking Sahbra mare Striking Fashion is owned by Ecurie Francis Richard Inc., Gestion Mario Bourgea Inc., Pierre Guillemette and Sylvain Richard. Fashion Frenzie boasts $103,000 earned for the season, summing $1.2 million in lifetime earnings. He has won twice in 12 starts this year and 26 times from 52 career starts. He paid $3.90 to win.
