Woodstock Season Finale Slated For Saturday
The 2024 live racing season in Woodstock, N.B. will come to an end on Saturday (Oct. 5) afternoon as Horse Racing New Brunswick sends five races to the gate in the season finale.
The season at the picturesque track at Connell Park has witnessed a number of new track records set including American History in 1:52. The time shattered the previous mark of Chewy Gross, which had stood for nearly two decades.
Post time for the opener is slated for 1:00 p.m. with the card capped by a feature pace, the $2,500 Winners Over Pace.
Leading the way is Press Time, who will look to get back to a familiar place at Connell Park on Saturday: the winner's circle. Trained by Averil Hunter, Shawn MacLellan picks up the live catch drive for owner Zach Cougle.
He has won four of his five races at the half-mile track since arriving in the province. He will have to overcome the outside post five. One Eight Hundred and Dr. Mitch Downey looks to be his toughest opponent along with his stablemate Watchmaker and veteran Mike Downey in the bike.
Horse Racing New Brunswick (HRNB) would like to extend its appreciation to everyone who was involved with the harness racing season in the province and for the Maritime horsemen and women who came out to support live race cards. HRNB would also like to thank the sponsors, racing fans and Woodstock Jockey Club for their support and the many volunteers who ensure that racing continues on a yearly basis.
