Primo Maschio Unbeaten After DSBF Elim Sweep
Forrest Bartlett's Primo Maschio ($2.10) completed a sweep of his two-year-old Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) eliminations when winning in 1:55.4 on Monday, Sept. 30 at Harrington Raceway to remain unbeaten.
Driven by Trae Porter in Monday's $27,027 division, the Kevin Lare-trained Badlands Hanover gelding was an easy winner on the front end and has now won all seven of his career starts. Lew Not Lou was second with Strange Brew third.
The second DSBF split also went to the favourite, as George And Tina Dennis Racing's homebred Won Last Call ($2.10) overcame an early miscue to prevail in 1:57.4 over Shore Not Beach and Badlands Boogie. The Badlands Hanover gelding recorded his second career win in three starts for trainer Joe Columbo. The win was one of three on the card for driver Montrell Teague.
The top eight point earners from the DSBF eliminations will return to compete in the $110,000 USD finals on Oct. 7-9.
In the $22,500 Free-For-All Handicap Pace, Tlb Racing's Sprocket ($6) was a wire-to-wire winner in 1:52 over Layton Hanover and Ats Hanover. The nine-year-old Sportswriter gelding notched his 37th career win in his 200th start. Pat Berry was the winning driver and Traci Berry was the winning trainer.
Live harness racing will continue on a Monday through Wednesday schedule, with post time at 4:30 p.m.
