Amigo Volo Pockets Mohawk Preferred Trot
James MacDonald and Amigo Volo rode the pocket trip all the way to victory in the $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday, Sept. 30.
As the wings drew away and the field rounded the turn, Amigo Volo had the lead briefly before Osceola and Doug McNair took command. The quarter clicked :26.4 and Amigo Volo was content to follow McNair's helmet. The field remained single file through the half in :55.2. Louis-Philippe Roy, driving Fashion Frenzie, was the first to pull a right line en route to the three-quarters in 1:23.4. MacDonald and Amigo Volo waited until the very last steps of the stretch to pass Osceola on the inside and win by a half length in 1:51.4. Fashion Frenzie passed on the outside to take second and Osceola had to settle for show.
