Hugh Heff Extends Win Streak At Northside

On Monday's (Sept. 30) card at Northside Downs, Hugh Heff won the Winners Over Pace, extending his win streak to six straight and extending his lead as the winningest Standardbred in North America. 

Hugh Heff maintains his place on the leaderboard with 20 wins this season, now three wins ahead of U.S.-based Lloyds Loves and Need Ur Opinion, who are tied for second with 17 wins each. On Monday, the Dana Getto student took post six in the $1,600 featured pace with Randy Getto in the bike.

Hugh Heff was caught on the outside through every panel in :29, :58.3 and 1:28.3. Working his way up from the back of the pack to the lead, he overtook the field and continued home to win by a half length in 1:59.1. Revenant (Mark Pezzarello) finished second with Runaway Mystery (Harold Leblanc) third.

Owned by Randy Getto, Susan MacSween and Wayne Hardy, Hugh Heff is a four-year-old gelded son of Betterthancheddar and the Rocknroll Hanover mare Danika Patrix. He moved his seasonal tally to 20-7-2 and pushed his lifetime earnings to $101,741 with 28 career victories.

Ardon Mofford drove his students to score a training triple on the card, winning with Shoot To Thrill ($2.30) in 2:04.3, Dont Tell Kim ($5.20) in 2:02.2 and Whosyourfather ($3.10) in 2:00.4.

The Monday card was rescheduled from Saturday, Sept. 28 after the cancellation due to unsafe track conditions.
