Ariels Bet, Century Lunar Triumph In Prospect Series
The fifth leg of the Prospect Series for two-year-old pacing fillies was contested in two $8,000 parts on Tuesday evening, Sept. 24 at Flamboro Downs with Ariels Bet and Century Lunar winning their respective divisions.
Ariels Bet left from the gate from post four with Travis Cullen aboard. She was caught on the outside in third at the :28.4 quarter, then moved to take over and set the half in :58. Ariels Bet maintained her lead through the three-quarters in 1:27.3 and continued on to win by 4-3/4 lengths in 1:57.1. Century Liberty (Austin Sorrie) finished second and Coueratout Du Lac (Louis-Philippe Roy) was third.
Ariels Bet improved her record to 3-1-0 in five starts this year with $17,000 earned. The All Bets Off-Millbanks Ariel filly is trained and owned by breeder Jodie Cullen. Heavily backed at the windows, she paid $2.10 to win.
Century Lunar ($6.20) cut the mile in the second division with splits in :30.4, 1:00.1 and 1:29.3 before winning by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:58.3. Louis-Philippe Roy piloted the Dancin Lou-Sunshine Patriot filly for trainer Eric Nadeau. Roy co-owns Century Lunar, who moved her record to 4-1-1 in eight starts, with French Connection Racing and Gaston Bibeau.
