Hennessey 'Picks Up' Open, Four More At Saratoga
Pickup Man Hanover emerged from the featured $20,270 Open Pace at Saratoga Casino Hotel on Saturday, Sept. 21 with his third top-level victory of the meeting.
The five-year-old Jaymes McAssey trainee took back in the early going and was 5-1/2 lengths off the lead through a contested :56.1 first half before Wally Hennessey made his move. After finding second-over cover, Pickup Man Hanover made steady progress throughout the second lap before taking the lead as the field turned for home, and he drew off to score by 3-1/2 lengths in 1:53.4. Alluneedisfaith N (Shawn Gray) closed to be second and Talking Tom (Chris Long) was third.
Pickup Man Hanover, who paid $12.40 to win, is owned by Dennis and Simone Noud.
Hennessey piloted four other winners on the card for the Saturday driving five-bagger.
