Pasta Momma Serves Up Preferred Tally At Red Shores
Pasta Momma prevailed in a thrilling four-across finish to deliver as the public choice in the $3,850 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace on Thursday, Sept. 19 at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The local domination continued for Marc Campbell as the Orwell, P.E.I. driver extended his lead in the standings thanks in part to Pasta Momma, who rallied off-the-pace to win in 1:56 by a head over Chelski (Driven by Damian MacLellan). Acefortyfourdome (Jason Hughes) was third, with pacesetting stablemate Sugar Bowl (Mark Bradley) just a quarter length back in fourth. Landon Campbell trains Pasta Momma for owners Brady Doyle of Stratford and Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris. She paid $2.60 to win.
Windemere Saddy provided a Marc Campbell-driven upset at 16-1 in the Race 7 PIPSC Charlottetown SH Subgroup Health Professionals pace. Time of the mile was 1:57 for the Brent Campbell trainee.
Marc Campbell’s other two wins came with Elm Grove Penney (1:56.1) for Luke Burke in Race 10 and Baskin Robin (2:01.4) in trotting action in Race 6 from the John Clarey stable.
Topville Angelina (Gilles Barrieau) won the Race 5 Canadian Ski Patrol pace in 1:55.4 for trainer Ron Matheson.
Trainer Tom Weatherbie doubled up as Adam Merner placed heavy favourite Downtown Tonight on the front to win Race 3 in 1:56.3 then Talldarklatte won Race 4 in 1:57 in line to Brodie MacPhee.
