Oceanview Rumours made it five-in-a-row during P.E.I. Colt Stakes action Thursday (Sept. 12) evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Oceanview Rumours, a two-year-old daughter of Green Manalishi, commanded the front in her $18,500 P.E.I. Colt Stakes two-year-old trot filly division to win by three-lengths in 2:00.3 over Oceanview Nikki (Driven by Mike McGuigan) and Supreme Rockette (Gilles Barrieau). Adam Merner was at the lines of the winning filly for trainer Melissa Rennie and owners Bill Roloson, Scott Roloson and Joey Aylward.

The $18,120 three-year-old filly trot division of the P.E.I. Colt Stakes was won by Dusty Lane Wee (Marc Campbell) in 2:00.2 over Dusty Lane Mable (Corey MacPherson) and third-place Gettin Tipsy (McGuigan). Lenny Myers trains the daughter of EL Rocket for owners Garry MacDonald of Ontario and Ronnie Gass of Cornwall.

West River Jet (Ken MacDonald) was the best in the $18,500 P.E.I. Colt Stakes two-year-old trot colt race with a snappy 1:59.2 victory over Dusty Lane Gus (Merner) and race favourite Bless Me Father (Campbell). Clare MacDonald trains the EL Rocket gelding for Haley MacDonald of Stratford. The victory was a new track record for rookie trotting geldings, lowering Buckaroo’s 2:00.2 standard set in 2017. Southwind Arturo holds the overall two-year-old trot record at 1:58.3.

Rocket Blast (MacPherson) unloaded a six-and-three-quarter length romp in the three-year-old trotting colts P.E.I. Colt Stakes division in race seven for a $18,120 pot. Carl Bagnall of Stratford owns and trains the son of EL Rocket. Lucky Ticket (David Dowling) was second best with Dusty Lane Darby (Merner) third.

Maggiesdelight (MacPherson) won the race six Animal Nutrition Association Of Canada Atlantic Division pace in overnight action stopping the clock in 1:54.1.

Irish Ray and Campbell took the $3,450 Open Handicap Trot by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:58.1 for trainer Landon Campbell and owner Three Wisemen Stable. 

Shake N Blake ($2.20) won the $3,200 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace by 3-1/2 lengths in 1:54.1 with Campbell in the bike for Melissa Rennie.

Campbell had a driving triple while Rennie notched three training wins on the program.

Red Shores was proud to work with Standardbred Canada, Prince Edward Island Standardbred Horse Owners Association and the PEI Harness Racing Industry Association to honour National Caretaker Appreciation Day.  

Live racing continues Saturday (Sept. 14) with a P.E.I. Colt Stakes doubleheader at Red Shores Charlottetown. The two-year-old pacers are featured on the first program with 13 dashes at 12 p.m., while the three-year-old pacers headline the evening program at 6 p.m., with 16 dashes including the Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Series and two divisions of the Richard Campbell Memorial Invitational.
