Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines for the inaugural MGM Grand Prix Invitationals this fall at MGM Yonkers Raceway. 

Management at Yonkers Raceway announced on Wedesday, Sept. 11 that a pair of new events – one for older pacers and one for older trotters – will offer three $75,000 USD legs each and $250,000 USD finals. A total of 16 horses on each gait will be invited with the top eight point-earners who have started in all three legs earning spots in the rich final. 

Dates and distances for each are below:

MGM Grand Prix Trot

• Leg 1: Oct. 11 (1 mile)
• Leg 2: Nov. 1 (1 mile)
• Leg 3: Nov. 8 (1-1/16 miles)
• Final: Nov. 15 (1-1/16 miles)

MGM Grand Prix Pace

• Leg 1: Nov. 4 (1 mile)
• Leg 2: Nov. 11 (1 mile)
• Leg 3: Dec. 9 (1-1/16 miles)
• Final: Dec.16 (1-1/16 miles)

Points for the final will be distributed on a 50-25-12-8-5 basis and all horses will race out of retention for the final.
