Better In Heels Leads Grand River Prospect Winners
Better In Heels strutted her stuff, while Miss Danni Song led every step on their way to victory in their respective $8,000 Prospect Series divisions for rookie pacing fillies, which highlighted the Monday, Sept. 9 card at Grand River Raceway.
The faster of the two divisions belonged to Better In Heels (pictured above) and driver Austin Sorrie in the evening's fifth race. Better In Heels stalked the hot early pace from fifth before assuming the pocket at three-quarters. From there, she tracked down pacesetter Stellrmanipulation (Samuel Fillion) by a neck on the wire to break her maiden in 1:54.4 for trainer Paul Davies. The daughter of Betterthancheddar paid $8 for the victory.
In the first division, Miss Danni Song earned her second victory in three outings -- all in the Prospect Series -- with Todd Ratchford aboard. Leaving from the rail, Miss Danni Song took command from the outset and would never look back, coasting to a 1:57.3 victory by a length over pocket-sitter Greystone Playgirl (Steven Hudon) in 1:57.3. The Mary Ratchford-trained daughter of Big Jim paid $4.90 to win as the bettors' choice. The win was one of two on the evening for Todd Ratchford, who led all drivers on the night.
