Cullen Students Triple At Flamboro

Harness racing at Flamboro Downs

Trainer Jodie Cullen sent out three winners on the Sunday, Sept. 8 evening card at Flamboro Downs with homebred Ariels Bet kicking off the triple.

Cullen rattled off the first win easy in the Sunday opener, a $6,500 conditioned pace for freshman fillies. Travis Cullen took Ariels Bet to the gate in post two and sent her forward, opening up on the field and never looking back. After controlling the timer in quarters in :28.4, :59.2 and 1:28.1, Ariels Bet recorded her second career win by 14 lengths in 1:57.3 over Mama Bettor Dance (Anthony Haughan) and Baroness (Daryl Thiessen).  Jodie Cullen bred and owns the All Bets Off-Millbanks Ariel filly. Ariels Bet paid $2.10 to win.

Following the stellar performance in the first race, Betternotmachme ($3.80) and Travis Cullen tallied the double with a 1:54.3 win by a length in the $9,500 conditioned pace for fillies and mares. Breeders Wayne Mac Rae and Howmac Farms Ltd. co-own the Betterthancheddar-Jackie And Doreen four-year-old mare. She earned her eighth win of the year in 23 starts and her 18th career race from 52 starts.

T H Jackies Legacy ($6.10) completed the training hat trick, also driven by Travis Cullen for Jodie Cullen, as she won the $4,500 claiming pace for fillies and mares by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:57.2. Travis Cullen, Ron Cullen and Blair Kidd co-own the three-year-old Bettors Delight-Jaclyn Hanover filly. She won her first race in 15 starts this year and her third career race from 24 starts.

Jodie Cullen sent out a total of six starters on the card with Docs Love nabbed at the wire by a neck in 2:00.1 and Wifey Said So finishing second as well by a head in 1:59.
