Preferred Stars To Butt Heads On Rescheduled CDP Card
Gold Cup and Saucer runner-up Twin B Tuffenuff will face some stiff competition in the Preferred Pace on a rescheduled Sunday afternoon, Sept. 9 program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 14-dash presentation was originally scheduled for Saturday evening but will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. due to an impending weather system heading for Atlantic Canada.
The Race 13 Preferred Pace carries a $4,500 purse with Wind Blown (Paul Langille) drawing the rail in the tight knit field of five. The Phil Sizer trainee was a winner his last two starts at Red Shores Summerside with Langille aboard in 1:53.3 and 1:53.1 for owners Doug Polley Sr., and Doug Polley Jr., of Nova Scotia, and Gordon and Joanne McComb of Ontario.
Roll Em (Marc Campbell) has drawn post two for trainer Brent Campbell, who co-owns with Ryan MacLeod, Savage Stable and Brady Doyle. The six-year-old son of Time To Roll was a 1:51.4 winner in the P.E.I.H.R.I.A. Invitational on Gold Cup and Saucer day and followed it up with a 1:52.2 victory last week.
Bee Two Bee (Jason Hughes) will leave from post three for trainer Ashley Gamester and owners Blair MacLauchlan and Donald MacRae. The Sunshine Beach seven-year-old is a co-holder of the Red Shores Charlottetown track record of 1:50.1 set in the Richard Campbell Memorial in 2023.
Twin B Tuffenuff will make his first start behind the gate from post four after finishing second in the $100,000 Gold Cup and Saucer to Covered Bridge. Gilles Barrieau is back in the race bike for trainer Ron Matheson and owner Patrick Morris of Charlottetown.
Rounding out the field is post five starter Blood Money (David Dowling) for trainer Matheson and owner Dr. Mitchell Downey of New Brunswick. The Sweet Lou stallion was second to Roll Em his last start at the Preferred level.
The Post Time Picks slates Roll Em as the one to beat: “Roll Em is riding a two-race winning streak coming into this race and has the inside advantage on his top rivals. I'm betting Campbell rolls him down the Red Shores highway to victory.”
