Gias Surreal Superb In Flamboro Preferred
Gias Surreal delivered as the public choice in the featured dash as harness racing returned to Flamboro Downs on Thursday, Sept. 5.
A solid field of six lined up in the $11,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace, with millionaire Gias Surreal the 8-5 choice from the outermost post. Driver Tyler Moore guided Gias Surreal to the position of command and cleared to the top over Betternotmachme (Travis Cullen) through a :28.1 opening quarter. Gias Surreal maintained that advantage through a :58.1 half, but started to feel the pressure from advancing challenger JM Betonsix (Anthony Haughan) through a 1:26.3 third station. Moore kept Gias Surreal to her task, and she scored under moderate urging in 1:55. JM Betonsix held off Betternotmachme for second, with both mares just a half length off the winner.
Trained by Donald Lindsey, Gias Surreal (So Surreal - Nancy Irene) notched her 38th career victory and nudged her career bankroll to $1,040,955 with the win. The veteran eight-year-old is owned by New Yorkers James Graham of Hamburg, Edward Peron of Syracuse and Lee Winters of Medina. A $2 win ticket on Gias Surreal returned $4.60.
Flamboro will race on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays through the end of September. Starting in October, races will run on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays through to the end of December, except for Dec. 25. First post time is 6:35 p.m. on each day besides Sunday, which has a first post time of 6:55 p.m.
