Doc Awesome Nails Labour Day Feature
Doc Awesome rode the two-hole to victory in the Monday (Sept. 2) afternoon feature during a special Labour Day presentation at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Paul Langille provided the winning steer of Doc Awesome for trainer Duane MacEachern and owners Darla MacEachern, Allen Gaudet and Mike Cameron, all of Summerside. The $3,000 event had Sauble Attack (Driven by Ken Murphy) come first-up and finish second in the 1:57.1 mile ahead of pacesetter and eventual third-place finisher Freemans Legacy (Jaycob Sweet).
Sinbuster Six led all the way in the race two Garth Schurman Memorial to win in 1:59.1 for the trio of driver Jason Hughes, trainer Blaine McKenna and owner Ronnie MacLean of Argyle Shore.
Egamer won the Labour Day Pace in race eight as part of a Brady Sweet driving triple. The O’Leary driver sat the two-hole and shook loose in the stretch to win in 2:00.1 for trainer Garth Cole, who co-owns with Hailey Cole of Kensington. Sweet also scored wins with Just Shocking (1:58.2) for trainer Rick Armstrong in race seven and Thinkingofeddie (1:58) in race 6 from his own barn.
The Earl Watts stabled delivered a double on the program, both with David Dowling in the bike, as Rock The Baby (1:58.2) won race nine and Starship Glyde (1:56.4) landed on top of race 12. Dowling also won race 10 with the Chris MacKay trained Wickham (1:58.4) for the triple.
The Joe Baxter stable made a pair of trips to the winner’s circle including a maiden breaking score with Miss Believing (2:03.1) in race one and with Bettim Alive (1:59) in race five for the Lazarus N colt’s third straight win. Murphy was in the driver’s seat for both Baxter wins while the Harrington driver also drove St Barts (2:00) to victory in race four for trainer Clifford Murphy.
