TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable Update
Stats would show that Randy Proud has a keen eye for Standardbred talent.
The fifth-place finisher out of 1,025 contestants in 2023, Proud of Stratford, P.E.I. currently ranks first in the 2024 TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable contest. His Proud Stable tops the 1,078 contestants in this year's contest as of Sept. 1, with total stable earnings in excess of $5.37 million.
In fact, Proud was the leader of the 2023 TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable just over a year ago. Can he hold off the challengers this year?
Gracie Harris and John Doran have the best chances to pass Proud now, but there's a distinct difference to the main contenders in those three stables. In Group B, Harris and Doran have both benefitted from the success of trotting titan Jiggy Jog S. She's poised for a major payday this weekend in the 2024 MGM International Trot at Yonkers Raceway. Proud, however, was surely pleased to see Bythemissal return to action this past week, with the 2023 Dan Patch Award winner slated for action in the Jim Ewart Memorial on Saturday at Scioto Downs.
The TROT Fantasy Stable Contest is based on total earnings of selected horses and five per cent of the earnings of selected trainers and drivers between May 24 and Dec. 31, 2024.
For the purposes of the fantasy bankroll, the winners (horses only) of the 2024 Breeders Crown finals will each receive a $200,000 contest bankroll bonus. Also, in the two-year-old categories, contestants were allowed to select two horses.
At the end of the year, the first three finishers (based on total stable earnings) will be awarded betting vouchers in the amount of $800 (first place), $400 (second place) and $200 (third place).
New to the standings chart this year is a Rank Change column on the right hand side to track movement from day to day in the standings. Contest totals are updated daily at 11 a.m. (EDT).
